Andrew Wheeler was Artistic Director and Chief Conductor of the Krasnoyarsk Academic Symphony Orchestra, Artistic Director and Chief Conductor of the Pacific Ocean Symphony Orchestra, Music Director at Opera Vladivostok, and Chief Guest Conductor of the Volgograd Symphony Orchestra.
He has conducted all of St. Petersburg’s major ensembles, toured throughout the former Soviet Union, had live performances recorded by Russian State Television, and been commended by the State Minstry of Culture. He was a student of Karl Osstereicher in Vienna, Ilya Musin in Leningrad, and Leonard Bernstein.
As a record producer he has made over a dozen recordings for Naxos, Melodiya, Marco Polo and Etcetera, and graduated from Melbourne University with an honours degree in composition. He has been recipient of a number of international scholarships and awards.
